No matter how hard we try to get in front of it... the holidays always seem so hectic. But then you get that window. That chance to slow down. To enjoy what it’s about. To watch some Christmas specials. Some new ones that the kids will remember. And the old ones that you remember and that bring back great memories. A smile and some times a tear.
Tess poem
Finn looked up on the computer “how to draw Santa”
Football... well let’s just say Dad’s coaching didn’t end up helping the team too well. One win season. Friday nights were tough but thankfully Saturdays and soccer were super. Only one loss.
For the first time we let O go surf without a parent or adult there - just him and his buddy. (Cameron) A big step forward in independence and responsibility. And O went spear fishing with his friends (Ethan and Ty) - solo no parents.
And while Owen has hit another first .... he still isn’t quite too big for a lift to bed. Although. I suspect this might be his last...
Short Video of Tess and Finn Carving. Of course we were doing this last minute- the day before Halloween. So Owen missed out on the carving because he had waterpolo. Kind of sad as first glimpse at when he might be to old and too busy for these things. But I am guessing and hoping not for a few more years.
Another trip back east to visit family and friends. Started off with a visit to Niagara Falls with Grandpop Bill and Patty. Erie fun at Waldameer with Nana. And some boat time on the lake.
On to visit Dee Dee, the cousins for lots of fun with friends and family. As well as a visit to historic Philadelphia with Grandpop Loughery.
Owen's first year of middle school surf team at Aviara
Owen started the season off on fire with a fifth place finish in his first contest.
From there he had a tough time getting out of the first heats. But he ended the season with a strong performance at the state championship tournament, finishing second in the first heat but unfortunately the weather forced the contest to be cancelled on the second day. (The contest resumed the following week and Owen advanced one more round but then got bumped out. Great job advancing 3 rounds) The team finished fourth in the state.
The stomach flu hit the family hard this week. Starting with Dad on Easter afternoon and then Finn, followed by Mom and Owen. Tess held tight and dodge the bug.
Millie was the comfort companion (when she would finally relax)
Finn is getting ready for his first year of little league and Owen had his ever first water polo games. Scored a goal in two of the games in the tournament.
This year is Tessa's first year in competitive dance. It has been amazing to watch her progression throughout the year.... long hours each week but she loves it. Here are two videos from dress rehearsal for their upcoming competition.
Mom had the great idea a few years ago to ask the grandparents for Disney gift cards for everyone for Christmas- we did it again this past Christmas and met up with the Arboits. Although dad didn't have the best of luck with rides - 5 rides broke down while waiting in line. 3 in a row.
